My rather strange 76th birthday request.
As I’m feeling fit and inspired and believing that God still wants me to carry on travelling and ministering in Churches, I hope you don’t mind if I repeat my last year’s birthday request.
For those who have kindly help support my travels over the past year, please feel under no obligation to continue.
I feel specifically throughout this coming year that God is going to use the ‘When the road is rough and steep’ concert and it will be a great encouragement to many.
Anyway, to my rather strange 76th birthday request.
I’ve realised in my later years that my ministry seems to be no longer needed in the larger churches, festivals, Spring Harvest etc. which actually is fine. I’m sure they have very capable people already doing what I am offering.
So where does that leave me? To be honest I still feel very active, healthy, inspired and even at this age still believe I have plenty to give.
Nowadays it is the smaller less wealthy Churches that seem keen for me to visit them and I know for some I’ve visited recently; it has meant quite a sacrifice to even invite me.
I just wondered if one or two of you who God may have blessed a bit financially may be able to help me to help them.
Even though I charge the minimum in expenses, I know it’s still a struggle for some. I’d love to visit them for free, but I just could not afford to do that and anyone who has ministered to children for most of their lives know it’s not a ministry that will ever make you wealthy.
This being the case I was wondering if any of you feel that you could help subsidise my visits by contributing £10 per month or even more if you can afford it for the next 12 months.
All the support you send I would take off my expenses charged and hopefully make it much more financially viable for the smaller, less wealthy churches to invite me.
I say 12 months so people can book way in advance, but this not a contract and if any meet hard times, it can be stopped immediately.
My advancing age has not slowed down my enthusiasm to travel and minister and God has definitely not told me that it’s time to hang up my guitar just yet. if anything I feel more inspired and with more to give than I did 50 odd years ago.
For any who feel they are both able and would like to contribute I would appreciate it if you could please either messenger or e mail me ishmael@Ishmael.org.uk and let me know.
Anyway, I hope you can see that the whole idea is to team up with me and help me to reach and bless even more people and whether you can help financially or not, I will always be grateful for your encouragement and prayers over the past 56 years.
And yes, this is as much a help and encouragement to me as it is to any church I may visit ……as I so love what I do.
