Commendations for the book.
Ish is a one-off! His spiritual journey has been larger than life, which is why he is such a hit with children and young people. This book is full of stories about people Ish has met; some are serious, some hilarious, but all appear in these pages for one purpose: to bring the Bible to life, and to help us in our daily lives to learn more about the good news of Jesus.
Now Ish has become a Deacon in the Church of England, based at Chichester Cathedral, where he and Irene worship. As Ish would say, "Who'd have thought it!" But he would add, "Thanks be to God," and so do I for this gem of a book.

To have Ish as a friend is to learn to play. The man loves to turn life into a game. But his game playing has a serious side.
Ish is someone who has been playing hide and seek with truth and reality for as long as Ive known him. Unwilling to just download what everyone else says about God and make it his own, he is someone who has been hunting for genuine spirituality all his life. And that means that hes been willing to change, and even admit that hes got it wrong at times. Hes taken some steps that even his closest friends would never have anticipated.
As one loved by hundreds of thousands of children, Ish exemplifies the heart of a child still ready to embrace wonder, still open to new ideas (or old ideas overlooked) and still wearing a face that slips most naturally into a smile. Life is still an adventure, a lark in the park with God who, according to Dallas Willard, is always at play throughout the earth. The fun continues.
Im privileged to call him friend, and play along whenever I can.
