I go to a Kids meeting at Church does that mean I am a Christian?

No, I am afraid not. Christian kids enjoy meeting together, but just going to a meeting will not make you a Christian.

I read my Bible sometimes, does that make me a Christian?

No, I am afraid not. Christian kids need to read the Bible because it's God's book and it will teach them how to live their lives in a way that makes God happy, but just reading it does not make you a Christian.

I pray to God when I am in trouble, does that make me a Christian?

No, I am afraid not. Christian kids do spend time praying because they enjoy both talking and listening to Father God, but just praying does not make you a Christian.

My Dad and Mum are Christians, does that make me a Christian?

No, I am afraid not. Both your Mum and Dad at some point in their lives decided they wanted to become Christians, but that does not make you a Christian. It is something you must do for yourself.

Am I too young to become a Christian?

No, at last good news! However young or old you are, God has a special place in His heart for you. He accepts you for who you are, what you know, and what you can understand.

So how do I become a Christian?

It's very easy, but you have to be very serious as you think about the next few lines, and read what is written next to steps 1,2 and 3. This is not the time to mess about, you are going to learn about the greatest miracle that could happen to anyone on the face of the earth.

Step 1

In the beginning Father God made people perfect, but starting with Adam and Eve, everyone chose to do bad things, which the Bible calls sin, and sin ruined our close friendship with god.

So the first step to becoming a Christian is to admit that you have said, thought and done things that are wrong.

Step 2

You must believe what the Bible says about the Lord Jesus.

2000 years ago Father God so loved people that He sent His only Son, the Lord Jesus, to earth. The Lord Jesus was different from any other person.

  • He cared for those who nobody else cared about.
  • He healed those that were unwell.
  • He loved everybody, including kids.
  • He was perfect and did no wrong.

But Jesus allowed himself to be beaten up, and killed on a wooden cross.

Why?

Because the Lord Jesus so loved people. He knew the only way that sinners could have their sin taken away was if a perfect person was willing to die for them. Jesus was the only person who could do that.

  • Jesus died so all the things that you have done could be forgiven and forgotten.
  • Jesus dies to make you pure and clean inside ....  just like He is.
  • Jesus died so that you could have a wonderful close friendship with Father God.

Step 3

You must believe that the Lord Jesus is alive today.

The Lord Jesus died, but not for long. Three days after He was killed He came back to life again. This proved that nobody is more powerful than the Lord Jesus. He was even more powerful than sin and death.

It's because the Lord Jesus is now alive again that everyone on earth can have their sins forgiven and be brought close to Father God, but this only happens when someone chooses to become a Christian.

The Lord Jesus then went up into Heaven to be with Father God, telling everyone that one day He would be back and live forever with those who love Him. It was then He sent His spirit, the Holy Sprit, to earth.

The Holy Spirit lives in the lives of all those who become Christians.

The Holy Spirit gives Christians power and special gifts so they can both tell and show their friends that Jesus is alive today.

The Holy Spirit teaches Christians how to live for the Lord Jesus, and also helps then as they worship.

I believe what you have told me, but what do I do now?

Try praying this prayer, very slowly, and mean each word you say .......

Father God ..... I am sorry.
I have said, done and thought wrong things.
Please forgive me.

Lord Jesus ...... thank you.
You love me, you died for me, you have forgiven me.
You have given me the chance to start a brand new life.

Holy Spirit .... please fill me with your power.
Teach me how to live a life that pleases Father God.
Show me how to worship the Lord Jesus.

Lord Jesus ... I know you have always loved me and today I want to tell you that I love you.

Is that it? Am I clean inside? Is everything I have ever done that was wrong now been forgiven and forgotten?

Yes ....... God has heard your prayer, you are now a Christian. Do remember that from time to time, you will still do wrong things, but if you are really sorry to Father God he will forgive you, and you will stay very close to Him.

Ask Him to help you to stop doing the same things over and over again. The less wrong things you do, the more your friends will see that you are living to be like your friend the Lord Jesus.

Shall I tell someone what I have done?

Yes.

Let everyone know. Tell your parents, family, kid's leaders from Church and even your friends who are not yet Christians.

Some may make fun of you, but others may want to become Christians too.

Will my Christian life be exciting?

Yes. Yes. Yes!

Of course at times life can be difficult and sad. But .....

Father God has promised never to leave you or let you down. The Holy Spirit has promised you the power to be a champion and a winner.

And the Lord Jesus has promised the most exciting life possible to those who have chosen to love and follow Him, and now, that includes you!

Get on and enjoy your new life!
