I have just been informed that a terrible road accident happened last Sunday involving Bishop Mike Hill and his wife Anthea.
The latest news is as follows:

Following the operation on Monday where her index finger was amputated, Anthea continues in a stable condition. The medical staff decided not to bring her back to consciousness yesterday but levels of sedation are lower. Today they will operate for a second time, this time on her left wrist where they will do some reparative plastic surgery from damage caused by her watch. She is right-handed so the injuries to her left hand will not be as disabling as they might have been.

Anthea fractured five of her neck vertebrae but apparently the breaks are clean and are lined up in the right (ie vertical) plane. The surgeons are not planning any surgical intervention at this point and she will have a collar fitted in time. Until she is brought back to consciousness the nature of how this terrible accident will affect her will not be clear.

Bishop Mike broke his shoulder blade (scapula) but following an appointment at the fracture clinic yesterday, they will not be operating. He continues to be positive in the midst of this and all the family have been strengthened by being together.
