Marks thoughts on the veil survey [19-Oct-2006] | | Hi Ish, I have thought a lot about the veil issue, and although I think it's fundamentally a means of keeping women under male control, as it is such an important part of someone's faith then they have every right to wear it, BUT not in the classroom. As the father of three children I know the face-to-face contact that children get with teachers and teaching assistants is very important. The simple matter here is that the woman cannot do her job whilst wearing a veil. I don't beleive you can establish trust in you are covering up, and in suggesting that the veil will be removed when there are no men present puts the school in an impossible position in terms of managing their staff.
