Supporting Baby Quinn
About Quinn Mills
Quinn is the son of Adam and Suzy Mills, he is 15 months old and the grandson of Ishmael and Irene Smale and Des and Sue Mills. Quinn was diagnosed with Rhabdoid cancer of the kidney on 7 April 2010. He had surgery to remove his left kidney and has been having chemotherapy treatment at Southampton children's cancer unit.
Quinn's Prognosis
On Wednesday 4 August Adam and Suzy met with the consultant. The prognosis is summarised below:
- An interim X-ray revealed a tumour 1cm long hidden deep in Quinn's lung and obscured by his collar bone and almost missed by the consultant.
- The CT scan on Fri 30 Jul revealed this had doubled in size in 3 weeks to 2cm plus 2 other tumours presented lower down in the lung each 12mm and 7mm.
- The tumours may all be operable but Rhabdoid is a very aggressive cancer and more tumours could spore, it is clearly resistant to chemotherapy.
- The consultant has decided to halt further chemo as Quinn was on a very harsh regime with nasty side effects and it wasn't working.
- The consultant advises it would be cruel to put Quinn through further major surgery involving 2 separate incisions to the lung - a high risk operation in itself - if more tumours are very likely to present at a later date in other organs.
- Radiotherapy is out of the question because of the soft tissue in the lung.
- The only other option could be if the 3 tumours do not grow within the next 4 weeks then an operation may be viable but only if no others are present in any other organs otherwise this would be futile.
Prayer for Quinn
We are now praying that the 3 tumours do not grow and no others present, and that God in his mercy totally wipes them out and heals Quinn. In other words a miracle. If this does not happen he has 4 - 6 weeks quality time left and 4 months overall because of the aggressive nature of the cancer. Quinn will be cared for by his family at home who want to surround him with as much love as possible.
Please pray for this precious little boy, he is gentle, bright, an amazing personality, humorous, loves fun and loves his life. He is so very brave and has been through so much. The family cannot imagine life without him and their pain on hearing this prognosis is unbearable.

Practical Support for Quinn
Although your prayers are the most important thing at this time, some have asked if there is any way that they can help Adam, Suzy and Quinn practically for the next few very difficult months.
We are investigating the charities that offer holidays but realise that Quinn will need to stay local and near the hospital.
Although we are still all praying for God to do a miracle, Adam is a self employed d j/musician and will obviously be cancelling some of his gigs and doing less travelling so he can spend more precious time at home with Suzy and Quinn.
We would like Adam to have freedom to not have to worry about finance during this time.
We have set up a bank account in Quinn's name for anyone who feels they would like to support the family with a gift.
This can either be paid directly into the account:
Name: Quinn Mills
Bank: HSBC (Chichester)
Account No: 91842919
Sort Code: 40-17-16
Or a cheque (payable to Quinn Mills) can be sent to:
