Last nights ‘Sting in the Tale’ concert

Brilliant night last night doing another ‘Sting in the Tale’ concert in Westham near Eastbourne. Brother Timbo joined me playing bass even though it was his birthday.

It was so kind of Vicar Chris to walk up to the stage at the beginning with a lovely birthday cake with four sparklers sparkling whilst we all sang happy birthday.

A great crowd came who really joined in well.

Although I am struggling with a cough and cold and the voice is even more croaky than usual we tried some different songs.

I personally felt that our acoustic version of ‘Crowd trouble’ did not work very well but that may have been because a couple of days earlier I had been playing it with Ishmael United as a rock punk song!

Marksman though worked well but the surprise song of the evening for me was ‘King of glory’.

One of the first songs that I ever wrote after I became a Christian and the first time I have sung it since, well, must be when I was touring with the ‘Charge of the light brigade’ album back in 1977.

It was amazing to sing it again and I felt the same power in the lyrics of the song that I felt when I first wrote it.

I love these ‘Sting in the Tale’ concert’s they seem to get better and better!

Jo and Susie who were there last night just e mailed me to say ‘Hello Ish. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and were glad we faced coming out into the cold, when the fire was so inviting.’

Still plenty of dates available if you would like me to come to your Church but the next one in the diary is at Downe Village Hall, High Street, Downe (near Biggin Hill) on Friday March 4th…Can’t wait!
