Patricia’s funeral
I felt it a great honour to be asked to take part In Patricia’s wonderful funeral service yesterday, she had been a great friend of Irene and mine for many years.
I would visit her often, right up to the time she left us. Although she was a very private, humble lady who did not like talking about herself, I did manage to coax her to share with me some of her stories from her long and exciting life.
She was one of the most interesting people I have ever met. She loved playing Hyacinth (Bouquet) Bucket in Keeping Up Appearances which most remember her for, and is still being enjoyed by millions all around the world.
My initial meeting with Patricia was when I was first ordained back in 2007 after I’d read the Gospel in the Cathedral. After the service she approached me telling me how much she loved the way that I read the words of Jesus. From that day onwards we became close friends.
As well as being a good friend, Patricia was a very Spiritual lady and a very devout Christian. On every visit I would pray for her and then she would pray for me and my family.
She brought fun and laughter lots of people’s lives including mine, I will really miss her.
