Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers this morning.

I had a fantastic time with lots of lovely children and lots of lovely leaders.

Although I was in a very hot ‘bigger barn’ (see photo below) the children stayed with me through a very lively, action packed set of songs and when I told them a short Bible story you could have heard a pin drop as their young eyes stayed glued on me as I told it.

But… in a couple of weeks’ time I reach the ripe old age of (what the bingo caller calls) Sunset Strip…although I never saw the TV series myself, as we never even had a black and white tele way back then!

Now I know some will say age is only a number which of course is true, but I am approaching a rather large number especially when it comes to doing children’s praise parties.

For someone my age to drive a long way to a venue and back, set up and break down the PA gear and then sing for an hour or so is fine at an ‘all age praise party’ or ‘all age service’ where some older people are present and people are relaxed, seated comfortably, and I can include a few slow worship songs, prayers etc.

But to do an hour of (almost all) lively action songs to (all ages of children) whilst trying to keep their attention and watch them enjoying themselves tends to involve a little more concentration and can be a little more exhausting!

But after saying this, I repeat, I did love this morning, but I think in future I will be prioritising the ‘all age’ events, including the ‘When the road is rough and steep’ testimony concert…which I find the most relaxed of all I do.

But over the past 50 or so years I’ve discovered that nothing is quite as exciting to see as children enjoying praising God and learning Scripture…in a way they enjoy.
