Sunday’s Praise Party in Peterborough.
I started using the term ‘Praise Party’ way back in 1982 (taken from a track on the power and the glories album) because it seemed to sum up my music events far more than the word ‘concert ‘. Why? Well they were fun, lots of praising with a party feel.
Although they were for all ages I wanted to make sure that children could enjoy and understand the words of each song that I included.
Anyway….
Lots of people of all ages arrived at Stanground Baptist Church for the Sunday praise party but as often happens…not so many young children.
Obviously, I have already worked out the set and the powerpoints were ready and waiting on the computer and I felt that there was no need to change anything.
As I guessed, the lack of young children made no difference as we really did have some fun together and most important, our Lord was very present with us.
It truly was an unforgettable weekend and Irene and I made so many new friends.
Thank you Bob (the gentle giant with me in the photo) for inviting us and thank you everyone else for making us feel so welcome.
A few words from Doug, one of the other church leaders.
Ishmael led our service on Sunday morning, which included all ages enjoying the singing, interaction, bible teaching and prayers.
One member of the congregation said afterwards how wonderful it was to have the bible story explained in simple language. Thank you Ishmael and Irene for sharing God’s love in your special way with the church family at Stanground Baptist Church, this has provided another uplift to the family.
