Brilliant night last night doing another ‘Sting in the Tale’ concert in Westham near Eastbourne. Brother Timbo joined me playing bass even though it was his birthday. It was so kind of Vicar Chris to walk up to the stage at the beginning with a lovely birthday cake with four sparklers sparkling whilst we all sang happy birthday. A great crowd came who really joined in well. Although I am struggling with a cough and cold and the voice is even more croaky than usual we tried some different songs. I personally felt that our acoustic version of ‘Crowd trouble’ did not work very well but that may have been…

Time to put down the telecaster and pick up the ovation because tomorrow (Friday) brother Timbo and I will be doing a ‘Sting in the Tale’ concert at St Mary The Virgin Church (High Street, Westham, Pevensey) at 7.30pm. Well Ishmael United have finally emerged from spending 2 days in the rehearsal studio. Did we struggle a bit? Well just a little. Willsy struggled on keeping up with the rhythms on some of the manic tracks, Dave struggled to get his keyboard working, I struggled trying to play Am and Larry struggled to stay awake…but that is understandable as he is the most senior member of our old boys band! Very interesting 2 days coming up. Today and tomorrow for the first time in 37 years all 4 original members of Ishmael United will be in a rehearsal studio playing music together in preparation for this years Big Church Day Out in May.
